Donald M. Ress, age 84 of Faribault, MN passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at the Northfield Hospital following a sudden illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive in Faribault, with Fr. Brandon Theisen officiating. Interment will be held at the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park with military honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Organization.
Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.
Arrangements are with the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault.
Donald Marvin, the son of Alfred and Theresa (Stone) Ress, was born on February 3, 1934 in Faribault, MN. He attended Faribault High School. Don then served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On October 10, 1953 he was united in marriage to JoAnn LaCanne at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Faribault. JoAnn preceded him in death on July 16, 2007. Don worked at different businesses in Faribault including, Don's Standard Gas Station, Rice County Dairy, Nutting Truck and Caster, John Derham Farms and Bachman's Floral. Don always enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed trips to the casino with JoAnn, sitting under trees and enjoying the weather, western movies, Viking football games, wrestling, riding his lawn mower and mowing neighbors lawns for them, going to Pizza Ranch and going for rides in the country.
He is survived by seven children, LuAnn Ress and special friend Mark Rebelein, Walter Ress, Patty Ress, Fred Ress, all of Faribault, MN, John Ress of Owatonna, MN, Donald Ress Jr. and special friend, Lori Brown of Lewiston, MN and Melanie Benson of Faribault, MN; by 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; by his brother, Norman Ress of Faribault, MN; by four sisters, Deloris (Leslie) Snyder of Waseca, MN, Elaine (Leon) Dibble of Owatonna, MN, Marlene Ress and Dorothy Voegele, both of Faribault, MN and by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, JoAnn, two sons, Gerald and William Ress and three brothers, Marvin, Harold and Raymond Ress.
