James Gare

James A. “Jim” Gare, age 74 of Faribault, MN passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 24, 2023.

James Arnold, the son of Lester and Louise (Chavie) Gare, was born on November 11, 1948 in Faribault.  He attended Faribault High School and graduated with the class of 1967.  Following high school he attended Faribault Vo-Tech.  On August 30, 1969 he was united in marriage to Carol Bisping at St. Luke’s Church in Faribault.  Carol preceded him in death on April 11, 2020.  Jim worked as a Pattern Maker for over 50 years.  He began his career as a toy maker with Lakeside Toys.  From there he worked for Watkins Patterns and retired from Enterprise Patterns.  Jim had a very creative mind and was always thinking of ways to make things.  He was a creative craftsman that could make anything and loved working with his hands to make it happen.  Recently Jim began working a blacksmithing forge at Ahlman’s Gun Shop.  He enjoyed going to the Rendezvous all around the area and appreciating the work that others did.  Jim loved spending time with his family and also enjoyed his cars, fishing, turkey hunting and deer hunting.

He is survived by his sons, Jeremy (Jamie) Gare of Waseca, MN and Joshua (Linda) Gare of Montgomery, MN; by six grandchildren, Bailey, Autumn, Caitlyn, Marissa, Makenna and Quinn; by his great granddaughter, Arabella; by his siblings, Dennis (Linda) Gare, Mary Jean Paschke, Carol (Cornell) Lee, Diane (David) Sievers, Christine (Mike) Cashin and Debbie Smykalski and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and by two sisters, Kathleen Kubinski and Sharon Sellner.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home and Crematory of Faribault with Bernadette Tatge, Pastoral Minister at Divine Mercy Catholic Church officiating.  Interment will be held at the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park, Faribault.

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Thursday for one hour prior to services.
