Lavonne Boyd

LaVonne "Vonnie" Boyd, age 85 of Faribault, MN died on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault, following an extended illness.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 3, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Dr., Faribault. Interment will be held at Meadow Ridge Memorial Park, Faribault.

Memorial visitation will be held on Friday from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the church.

LaVonne Francis was born on October 15, 1932 to Francis and Helen (Thibodeau) Minnick in Faribault, MN. She was one of four children in the family. Vonnie grew up and went to school in Faribault, ultimately graduating in from Bethlehem Academy in 1951. On March 28, 1953 she was united in marriage to Robert James Boyd, and together they moved out to San Gabriel, California for a time but then came back to Faribault to raise a family. Vonnie had many jobs during her life, the Herald-Examiner in L.A., Bank of America and caring for others as a home healthcare provider.

She is survived by her son, Bryan Boyd of Faribault; sister, Jacqueline Friedges of Lakeville; brother, Daniel (Betty) Minnick of Faribault; sister-in-law, Becky Minnick of Faribault; and many other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert on July 13, 2007; infant son, James Allen; brother, Francis "Punk" Minnick; and parents, Francis and Helen Minnick.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at St. Lucas Care Center for the loving care that was given to their mother and sister.
