With heavy hearts it is our dismay to inform all that may have known her that Marion Lois Bultman Brakke has unfortunately passed away. She was adored by many and will be missed by all. She passed on Monday afternoon peacefully in her home being cared for by those around her and passed with a reminder that she was loved.
Marion Lois, the daughter of Gerald and Wilhelmina (Reuvers) Bultman was born on August 22, 1948 in Faribault. She attended Faribault High School and graduated with the class of 1966. Following high school Marion enlisted in U.S. Navy, serving at the Naval Hospital in Oakland, CA as an LPN Nurse. After serving four years she enrolled in nursing school in Rochester, MN. She received her Associates Degree in Nursing in 1971 and began working at St. Mary’s Hospital in the Pediatric Department. After traveling to several different hospitals, she settled in Virginia, MN in 1978. She retired in 2015. She delivered and cared for numerous precious babies during her time there and made many lifelong friends. Marion loved sewing, cross-stitching, and quilting. She made many beautiful, personalized quilts for family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Kenneth Brakke of Hoyt Lakes, MN, Susan Brakke of Hoyt Lakes, MN, and by her daughter, Lilly Felt, Marion’s favorite granddaughter and Cathy Cavanaugh of Eveleth, MN and her sons, Kevin and Toby Cavanaugh; by her siblings, Lucille Bultman of Australia, George (Betty) Bultman of Faribault, Charles Bultman of Owatonna, MN, Carol (Steve) McHugo of Faribault, Arthur (Sonya) Bultman of Faribault, Joan Bultman of Faribault, Judy Bultman of Faribault and Patrick (Lisa) Bultman of Faribault and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Irene Smisek and Janet Bultman and three brothers, Jerome, David and William Bultman.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault with Fr. Cory Rohlfing officiating. Interment will be held at the Calvary Cemetery, Faribault.
Memorial visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Tuesday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday for one hour prior to services.
