Marion Trnka

Marion R. Trnka, age 86 of Faribault, MN passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at Milestone Senior Living in Faribault following an extended illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 9, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Patrick in Shieldsville, MN with Fr. Michael Miller officiating. Interment will be held at St. Lawrence Cemetery, Faribault.

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home, 1725 Lyndale Ave. N. in Faribault, on Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. and on Monday at the church for one hour prior to services.

Marion Rose, the daughter of John W. and Ludmilla (Kalina) Tuma, was born on June 25, 1932 in Webster Township, Rice County, MN. She attended New Prague High School and graduated with the class of 1949. After high school she attended The College of St. Scholastica. On June 21, 1955 she was united in marriage to Ellard Trnka at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lonsdale, MN. Together they farmed for many years and Marion was busy raising their growing family. Later she worked for 12 years as a clerk at JCPenney. Marion was an active member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Faribault, assisting with many activities. She also enjoyed helping their children with their 4-H projects and activities, being a member of the Rice County Extension and playing cards in one of her many groups. Quilting and crafts were a passion of Marion's and she enjoyed making them for all of her family.

The family would like to thank the staff at Milestone Senior Living and Brighton Hospice for the loving and compassionate care that was given to Marion during her illness.

Marion is survived by her husband of 63 years, Ellard Trnka of Faribault; by her children, Steve (Elaine) Trnka and Tom (Sue) Trnka, both of Faribault, Jane (Larry) Pete and Diane (Charles) Peters, both of Lonsdale, MN, Donna (Dan) Morgan of Medford, MN and Mary (Greg) Mathison of Clear Lake, MN; by 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; by her brother, Leonard (Betty) Tuma of Northfield, MN; by brother-in-law and sister-in-laws, Joe C. (Nancy) Trnka and Claudia Tuma, both of Lonsdale, MN and Elaine Herda of Faribault and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Marion was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Robert Tuma.
