Anthony "Tony" Petricka

Anthony M. “Tony” Petricka, age 74 of Owatonna, MN passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at his home.

Anthony Matthias, the son of Anton and Marcella (Turek) Petricka was born on February 24, 1947 in Faribault.  He attended Faribault High School and graduated with the class of 1965.  During high school and after his graduation Tony farmed with his Dad.  In 1967 he was called to serve in the U.S. Air Force and served for a short time before being called home to help on the family farm after his Dad was injured.    On October 19, 1968 he was united in marriage to Cheryl Swedin at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Faribault.  After their marriage they farmed in different places including near Kenyon, Walcott Township, Richland Township and settled in Deerfield Township, Steele County.  They later divorced. While farming Tony also sold seed for Super Crost Seed Corn and earned a trip to Hawaii in 1978.  He also ran his own construction company, Tony Petricka Construction.  For the past 20 years he was a cabinet builder with Christian Brothers in Owatonna.

Tony had many interests and enjoyed several activities including, going to auctions, fishing, hunting small game, playing cards, woodworking, making almond brittle, gardening, canning, watching car racing and football, gaming, dancing, bowling and was a collector of many things.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 77 and the VFW Post 3723 both in Owatonna.

He is survived by his children, Brenda (Tyler) Enright of Elko New Market, MN and their children, Maddie (Jordan) Campbell, Hannah, Max and Jake Enright; Diana (Scott) Enright of Delano, MN and formerly of Morristown, MN and their children, Devin (Jasmine) Kopperud, and great granddaughter, Layla and Derek Kopperud; Tina (Mike) Henry of Faribault and their son, Alex Henry; Tony “TJ” Petricka of Faribault and Jennifer (Keith) Simek of Faribault and their children, Allison and Isabelle Simek; by his sister, LaVonne (Hank) Speak of Hot Springs Village, AR; by brothers-in-law, Orville Bauer of Faribault and Mark (Rose) Noble of West Concord, MN and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Marion Bauer, Barb Noble and Susie Petricka

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 4, 2022 at 11:00 a.m at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault with Bernadette Tatge, Pastoral Minister officiating.  Interment will be held at St. Lawrence Cemetery Faribault with military honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Association.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday morning from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.
