Carol Greeney

Carol M. Greeney, age 75, of Faribault, MN, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at the Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Faribault surrounded by her family, following a sudden illness.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at the Cathedral of Our Merciful Saviour, 515 2nd Ave. NW, Faribault, with Rev. Henry Doyle, officiating.  Inurnment will be at the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park Columbarium in Faribault.

Memorial visitation will be at the Cathedral of Our Merciful Saviour on Saturday from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.

Arrangements are with the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault.

Carol Marie was born on October 14, 1943 in Minneapolis, MN to Muridan and Francis (Gustafson) Nelson.  She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis and the University of Minnesota with a degree in recreational therapy.  Carol was united in marriage to Thomas H. Greeney Sr. on March 19, 1966 in Minneapolis.  Following college, Carol worked at the Faribault Regional Center as a recreational therapist for over 32 years.  During that time and after retirement, she also was a bus driver for Faribault Transportation.  Carol loved the outdoors, camping with her family, spending time at the cabin, and gardening.  Carol devoted countless hours volunteering at the Cathedral.  She was highly active in numerous capacities at the church and truly enjoyed her church family.

She is survived by two children, Tom (Jenny) Greeney Jr. of Faribault, and Sue (Bob) Weinberger of Eden Prairie, MN; grandchildren, Zach (Kassidy) Greeney, Owen Weinberger, Asher Weinberger, and Geddy Weinberger; and by nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be directed to the Cathedral of Our Merciful Saviour in memory of Carol.

She was preceded in death by her husband Tom on Nov. 19, 2003; parents, Muridan and Francis; sister, Marlys Nelson; and brother, Vince Nelson.
