Following high school, Carolyn went to cosmetology school and was later united in marriage with Richard Litsheim on June 2, 1956 in St. Paul, MN. Carolyn was a beautician throughout her life, eventually becoming a business owner in 1980, running Clip & Curl in Faribault for many years. She was heavily involved in her community, serving as Grand Madame President of the Eagles, where she also worked as a bartender. She was a charter member of the Moose Lodge and served as Senior Regent, starting in 1965. Carolyn was a very crafty person, specializing in embroidery, crocheting, and needlework. She was always decorating and often lost track of time while she worked on her projects, staying up late into the night. Carolyn was also an avid bowler for much of her life.
