Chad Undhjem, age 44 of Faribault, MN passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at his home following a two year battle with cancer, surrounded by his family.
Chad Allan, the son of Darcy and Marilyn (Witty) Undhjem was born on September 6, 1977 in Minot, ND. He attended Columbus High School until it closed and then attended Burke Central High School in Lignite and graduated with the class of 1996. Following high school he attended Bismarck State College and earned his degree in the Electrical Lineman Program. It was at Burke Central High School that he dated his high school sweetheart and future wife Amanda Ellis. They were united in marriage on September 29, 2001 in Portal, ND. Chad began his 20+ year career working as a Network Technician for CenturyLink/Lumen in Minnetonka, MN and later St. Cloud, MN. Chad then moved to Minot, and worked for SRT Communications for five years. His love for Minnesota brought him back and he continued his career with CenturyLink/Lumen working in Northfield, Owatonna and St. Peter, MN. For the past 10 years they have made their home on Cannon Lake in Faribault.
When he wasn’t working Chad enjoyed tinkering on his old cars and pickups, working on/in his yard, guns, gardening/planting flowers, watching/attending sporting events, golfing, relaxing by a campfire with a cold Bud Light, spending time with his wife and daughter and staying busy with some sort of project. He was a busy body and wasn’t one to sit still.
Chad is survived by his wife of 20 years, Amanda and his 4 year old daughter, Avie Rose of Faribault; by his parents, Darcy and Marilyn Undhjem of Minot, ND; by his sister, Stephanie (Marc) Sortland of Minot, ND; by his brother, Derek (Amber) Undhjem of Surrey, ND; by his father and mother-in-law, Donavon and Joann Ellis of Lignite, ND; by brothers and sisters-in-law, Josh (Dawn) Ellis of Rapid City, SD, Jarvis (Janice) Ellis of Hot Springs, SD and Gabe (Marki) Ellis of Crosby, ND; by grandmother-in-law, Helen Ellis of Lignite, ND; by nieces and nephews, Rylin Sortland and fiancé Lexi Wymann, Macee Sortland, Tré Sortland, Brekkyn Undhjem, Bayleigh Undhjem, Bryer Undhjem, Briggston Undhjem, Sierra Ellis, Jackson Ellis, Wyatt Ellis, Jenna Ellis, Otto Ellis and Perry Ellis and by numerous cousins, aunts, uncles and in-law cousins, in-law aunts and uncles and by his long-time friend, Jess (Kristen) Hochhalter.
Chad was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alan and Jermaine Undhjem and Allen and Avis Witty; grandparent in-laws, Ardell and Rose Chrest and Fritz Ellis and by his cousin, Kjell Undhjem. Chad was also preceded in death by his beloved dogs, Chevy, Angel, Gracie and Chey.
Memorial visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory on Saturday, May 7, 2022 from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. A prayer service and time of sharing will begin at 5:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Biebighauser from Trinity Lutheran Church in Medford officiating. All are invited to stay for a reception following the prayer service.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2022 beginning at 4:00 p.m. at The Barn @ 52 Pines, 3220 Grayson Drive, Burlington, ND 58722. All attending are encouraged to bring a note or letter about Chad to share with Avie Rose so she can read them when she’s older and NEVER forget her daddy.
