Colin Glarner

October 25, 1932 — March 26, 2020

Faribault, MN

Colin Keith Glarner, age 87, of Faribault, passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, March 26, 2020.

Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Born on Oct. 25th, 1932 in West Concord. Colin graduated from West Concord High School.  Colin was drafted into the US Army and served as a Private E-1 and was stationed in Fort Riley, KS. and was medically discharged. On June 8th, 1952, Colin married the love of his life Charlotte Ellen Kruse. They were blessed with three children, Keith, Karen, and Kevin.

Colin worked at Swarthout Plumbing in Pine Island early in his career. He was inducted into the service Feb.11th, 1953. Colin worked successfully as a Taystee Bread man for over 25 years, getting a route in Faribault where his wife Charlotte and children settled in making Faribault their home. Colin and Charlotte found joy and pleasure in a business where they both took part in stripping and refurbishing furniture known as the Strip N' Shop. Shortly after he worked for the Faribault Public Schools as a custodian. Some of his favorite hobbies and pastimes was going to auctions, re-cycling junk, (he never called it junk, it was merchandise!), and his love for old Ford tractors and equipment. Once it was a little harder with age and physical limitations to get around he found time with a few close friends to hit the local garage sales.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; three children, Keith Glarner of Faribault, Karen (Lyman) Stoltz of Albert Lea, Kevin (Connie) Glarner of Faribault; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren, a sister Cherie Rundquist, brother Kerry (Bonnie) Glarner; as well as neices, nephews and other loving relatives and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Virginia Glarner; two sisters, Donalda and Arlene; brother, Newell; three brother in laws, Earl, David, and Royce, sister in law Ruth.

Funeral arrangements are being completed with the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault.
