Deloris Ostrom

March 2, 1928 — March 13, 2019

Dode Ostrom, of Milestone Senior Living Center of Faribault passed away on March 13, 2019 of Alzheimer’s disease wither her loving family at her side.

Dode was born to Algot and Bessie Lindstrom in Superior, WI on March 2, 1928.  She attended grade school in Popular, WI and graduated from Barron, WI, high school in 1945.  She went on to attend beauty school in Milwaukee, WI and then to return to Barron to work at Barron Beauty Shop.

Dode met and fell in love with Bill Ostrom after a 6 year courtship while attending high school.  They married on June 12, 1948 in Barron, WI, before moving to Faribault, MN for the next 53 years.  They relocated to Rochester, MN in 2001, until returning to the Faribault area 8 months ago.

Dode was a loving, kind, and gracious women that was also known as mom, grandma, sister, and above all, a loving wife to Bill for the last 70 years.  Her legacy and presence will live on forever as she will be greatly missed by all.

Dode enjoyed decorating her homes, sewing, knitting, attending art classes, cooking, baking, especially “Spritz” Christmas cookies, flower gardening, reading, ladies Tuesday golf, and traveling.  She was a longtime member of First English Lutheran Church axillary, as well as the Faribault State School and District One Hospital axillaries, and many charities.

Dode is survived by her husband, Bill of Faribault; daughter, Jan (Lennard) Carlson of Kasson; brother, Donald (Sharon) of Tempe, AZ; daughter-in-law, Joanne Ostrom of Faribault; three grandsons, Chris (Jeannine) of Woodbury, Matthew (Missy) of Savage, and Patrick (Cristen) of Mendota Heights; 7 great-grandchildren, Isabelle, Emma, Olivia, Mackenzie, Maddie, Ellie, and Benjamin; step-sisters, Vera Farr of Rapid City, SD, Grace Roberts of Salt Lake City, UT, and Hazel Hanson of Barron, WI.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Algot and Bessie Lindstrom; by her stepfather, Clark Heath; son, William Ostrom; brother, Graydon Lindstrom; step-brother, LaVerne Heath.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation and many thanks to the excellent staff and all caregivers at Milestone Senior Living and Brighton Hospice that attended to all of Dode’s needs.

Per the family request, there will be a private service and burial at a later date.
