Diane M. Schendel

Diane M. Schendel, age 84 of Faribault, MN passed away on Friday, June 20, 2025 at Faribault Senior Living.

Diane Marie, the daughter of Richard and Nellie (Dwyer) Schultz, was born on January 23, 1941 in Faribault, MN. She grew up in Faribault and graduated from Faribault High School with the Class of 1958. While in high school, Diane worked as a secretary for the Faribault Woolen Mill. Diane married the love of her life, Elton Schendel, on August 22, 1959 at Immaculate Conception in Faribault. Diane worked as a secretary for many years for various businesses, including the Faribault School District, Genova, and the Faribault Emergency Room. When she wasn’t working, Diane enjoyed gardening, playing cards, getting coffee with her girlfriends, spending time with her family, and traveling with Elton. They loved to travel to Deadwood, SD, Branson, MO, Washington DC, Colorado, and up north to Longville, MN.

Diane is survived by her children, Deb (Gary) Keilen and Mike (Jenni) Schendel both of Faribault; grandsons, Matt (Aaren) Keilen, Alex Keilen, Zach Schendel, Ian Schendel, and Sam Schendel; step great-grandchildren, Jay, Hannah, and Hunter; sister, Karen (Gary) Zehnder; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elton; brother, Thomas Schultz; and niece, Donna Schendel.

Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory in Faribault with Bernadette Tatge, Pastoral Minister at Divine Mercy Catholic Church officiating. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Faribault, MN.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Moments Hospice and the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Diane.

Diane’s family would also like to give a special thank you to the staff at Faribault Senior Living and Moments Hospice for the care they gave to Diane.
