Donald Albert Jasinski of Faribault, MN passed away peacefully at Mill City Senior Living on Monday, June 2, 2025, at the age of 92 after an extended illness. He was such a caring and supportive dad, wonderful grandpa and a kind person to everyone else around him. He touched a lot of hearts.
He was the son of Albert and Alice (Stotzel) Jasinski, born on January 7, 1933, in Faribault, MN. He grew up in Faribault and graduated from high school from Bethlehem Academy in 1951. He attended the University of St. Thomas for 2 years before enlisting in the US Marine Corps in 1953. He was stationed at the El Toro Marine Corps Air Station near Irvine, California. He had plenty of stories he shared with our family over the years when he served there.
On November 30, 1957 he married Marie Frances Healy at Immaculate Conception Church in Faribault. Together they raised five children. He was always a very hard worker throughout his life. He started working at the age of 15 at Sanitary Ice (from the Twin Cities) and later he started his own business, the Faribault Ice Company. He always joked he had "5 helpers" meaning us kids! He also worked at Al's Place, originally owned by his father. Later he took over the business with his two brothers Jerry and Gene, and it became Grandpa Al's. As the years passed, he sold off his ice business and retired from the bar business as well.
He loved antiques and Faribault history. During his retirement he enjoyed going to garage sales, flea markets and estate sales, always on the search for a great find. He also loved cooking, gardening, traveling, fishing, spending time at the lake with is grandchildren, and reminiscing with family and friends. He was always about town driving in “Big Red”, his van he drove for years. He always brought donuts and sweets to anyone who was going through a hard time. He cared so much about others. For that, we will forever miss him.
We want to extend our sincere thank you to the staff at Mill City Senior Living who cared for our dad. We also want to thank our brother, Steve, who was Dad’s caretaker and never left his side.
Donald is survived by his five children; Steve Jasinski, Ann (Dave) Mliner, Nora (Tom) Houlihan, Tony Jasinski, Mary (Tom) Ippoliti; grandchildren, Matthew Jasinski, Lauren (Chris) Esposito, Alex (Shelby) Mliner, Claire Houlihan, Bridget Houlihan, Francesca (Josh) Ippoliti-Pfitzer and Christina Ippoliti; great-grandchildren, Arie, Ezra and Enzo Esposito; sister-in-law, Betty Healy; nieces, nephews, other friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie; parents, Albert and Alice; brothers, Jerome and Eugene.
