Dorothy married the love of her life, LeRoy Cole, on May 12, 1956, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love and family. She is survived by her two daughters, Debra Bell (Otis Bell) and Melanie Cole (Vicky DeRouchey), her granddaughter Alyssa Bell (Brad), her brother Virgil Vavra (Vickie) and many extended family members and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, LeRoy Cole; her sister, Loretta Dusbabek; her brother, Dennis Vavra; her grandson, Anthony Bell and her granddaughter, Christina Bell.
Dorothy had a remarkable 40-year career as an Administrative Secretary at Mercury Minnesota, where her dedication and work ethic earned her the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike.
Her love for her family and friends was boundless, and her infectious spirit touched everyone she met. Known for her honesty, independence, and ability to champion those less fortunate, she had a heart that embraced the world. Dorothy’s kindness extended to complete strangers, often with a compliment or a small gesture that made their day brighter. She would literally give the shirt off her back to someone in need, a testament to her selflessness.
A devoted fan of the Minnesota Vikings, Dorothy also loved her scratch tickets and above all, spending time with her family and friends at the Savage American Legion. Always ready to listen and share words of encouragement, Dorothy had an uncanny ability to make others feel loved and valued.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and acceptance, and her memory will continue to inspire all who knew her. Dorothy believed in wanting the very best for everyone she encountered, and her signature sign off was “Have a rainbow day”!
