Dorothy Hesse

Dorothy H. Hesse, age 93 of St. Clair, died on Friday, October 3, 2008 at Pathstone Living in Mankato.             Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 7th at 2:00 p.m. at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in St. Clair with Rev. Larry Wiederich officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery following services.             Visitation will be held on Monday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home in Janesville, and will continue on Tuesday afternoon for one hour prior to services, at church. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.             Dorothy Harriet was born on November 18, 1914 in Waseca County, Minnesota to Simon and Kate (Gunsolus) Berentson. Dorothy graduated from Pemberton High School and went on to earn her teaching certificate from Mankato Normal School. She later received her bachelor of science degree in elementary education from Minnesota State University at Mankato (formerly Mankato State).Dorothy was united in marriage to William Hesse on June 16, 1937 at Medo Lutheran Church in Pemberton. Dorothy and William resided on their McPherson Township farm until 1992, when they moved into St. Clair. She was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in St. Clair, and its Ladies Aid. She was also active as a 4-H leader, Sunday school teacher, and St. Clair School Board member. Dorothy enjoyed traveling with her husband, time spent with her family, and playing cards and dominos.              She is survived by her two sons Harvey (Beverly) Hesse of Pemberton, and Jeffrey (Lea) of Springfield, VA, and her two daughters Norla Hesse of Mankato and Sylvia Hesse and Shar Anderson of White Bear Lake; by her five grandchildren Vicki (Jerry) Rose, Mike (Sue) Hesse, Londa (Larry) Lillo, Rhea Hesse, and Jeremy Hesse; by her nine great grandchildren Jessica Lillo and fiancé Jacob Willson, Kristina (Russell) Gresham, Tayton Rose, Jennifer Lillo, Megan Rose, Keri Hesse, Joni Lillo, Kile Hesse, and Jason Lillo; by her life-long friend Marjorie Andrews of Pemberton.             She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband on May 23, 1998 and her daughter Ada at infancy.             Casketbearers are Dorothy's grandchildren and great grandchildren.
