Fred J. Ress

Fred J. Ress, age 66, of Faribault, MN, passed away December 17, 2025, at the Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN.

Frederick James, the son of Donald and JoAnn (LaCanne) Ress, was born on March 10, 1959, in Faribault. He graduated from Faribault High School with the class of 1977. Fred was a cab driver, worked for Jandro Excavating, painted houses, and most recently worked for Truth Corp. in Owatonna, MN. Fred enjoyed listening to country music, playing cards, hanging out with his friends, and watching crime shows. His daily routine included crossword puzzles, eating fruit, and outings around town.

He is survived by his siblings, Lu Ann Ress (Mark Rebelein), Walter Ress, Patricia Ress, Donald Ress Jr., and Melanie Benson; nephews and nieces, David Poore, Christopher Ress, Timothy Ress, Gerald Ress Jr., Kelly DeLano, Billie Ress, Austin Ress, Autumn Ress, Allyson Villwock, Michael Dobberstein, and Amelia Benson; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and JoAnn; and three brothers, William, Gerald, and John Ress.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home, 1725 Lyndale Ave. N., Faribault. Visitation will be held from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park in Faribault.
