Gerald H. “Jerry” Saxton, age 85 of Morristown, MN and formerly of Kasson, MN passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at his home following a brief illness.
Gerald Harry, the son of Harry and Mable (Keller) Saxton was born on July 8, 1938 in Dodge Center, MN. He attended Dodge Center High School. On September 27, 1958 he was united in marriage to Marjorie Haugen at the Kasson United Methodist Church. Jerry grew up on a farm and after their marriage they purchased 80 acres for a hobby farm so Jerry could continue farming. Jerry also worked for Harry McNeilus and later began a 33 year career with IBM in Rochester, MN retiring as a Supervisor. In retirement Jerry and Marjorie wintered for three months in LaFeria, TX and three months in Manzanillo, Mexico. Jerry enjoyed the winters away and liked going out for breakfast with his friends in Mexico. He was a hard worker and very involved with their church services when they were in Texas and Mexico. Jerry liked building Peg and Joker games, playing pool and poker, buying and selling anything and everything, dock building, welding and machining. Family was very important to Jerry and he enjoyed spending time with his family any time he could.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 65 years, Marge Saxton; by his daughter, Paula (Scott) Lampland; by his grandchildren, Jason (Lindsay) Saxton, Adam (Elizabeth) Saxton, Nicole (Chris) Scobba and Trevor (Michelle Fox) Lampland; by his great grandsons, Cody (Mateah), Jacob, Logan, Griffen, Payton, Barrett and William; by two sisters, Elrose Douglas and Judy Folie and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Mable Saxton, by three children, Larry, Mark and Keri Saxton, by his brother, Ray Saxton and by his sister, Harriet Winter.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kasson United Methodist Church in Kasson, MN with Pastor Jacob Hanson officiating.
Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
The Family prefers that memorials be directed to Kasson United Methodist Church or the American Heart Association in memory of Jerry.
The Family requests no flowers due to severe allergies within the family.
