Gordon L. Stelter

Gordon L. Stelter, age 94 of Faribault, MN passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2025 at Benedictine Living Community in Owatonna, MN following an extended illness.

Gordon LaVern, the son Celesta Stelter was born on February 19, 1931 in Yellow Medicine County, MN. He attended Milroy High School and graduated with the class of 1949. Following high school Gordy worked for a lumber company until he was called to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was later honorably discharged. On September 9, 1961 he was united in marriage to Rita Walkowiak in Faribault. Rita preceded him in death on October 12, 2024. Gordy worked for over 40 years at United Building Center and many of those years were as the manager. Gordy enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his sons, Thomas (Ginny) Stelter of Hinckley, MN and their children, Joshua (Kelly) Stelter and Carlee Stelter; Bruce Stelter (Penne Swenson) of Burnsville, MN and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and son Mark Stelter.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault, with Fr. Alex Marquette officiating. Interment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

The family prefers that memorials be directed to the charity of the donors choice in memory of Gordy.

Arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault.
