Harold D. Keilen Jr.

Harold D. Keilen Jr., age 78, of Faribault, MN, passed away unexpectedly at his home on August 7, 2026.

Harold David, the son of Harold Sr. and Georgia (Squire) Keilen, was born on July 9, 1948, in Northfield, MN. He graduated from Northfield High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Harold was united in marriage to Jeanette Shankey on September 15, 1972, in Morristown, MN. He worked as a custodian for many years with the Faribault School District, then for 17 years with St. Olaf College in Northfield. Harold enjoyed fishing, golfing, deer hunting, and watching sporting events especially baseball and football, and going to car races and shows. Harold was a longtime member of AA. Most of all he enjoyed time with his wife, sons, grandson, and his dog.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Keilen; sons, David Keilen and Wayne Keilen; grandson, Percy; siblings, Mike Keilen (Carol), Steve Keilen, Deb Hovland, Doug Keilen, Kevin Keilen (Linda), Tim Keilen (Nita), Brian Keilen (Joan), Tracy Taraboccia (Larry), and Kerry Tesdahl (Paul); and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Keilen Sr. and Georgia Lee; stepmother, Ethel Keilen; brother, Jon Keilen; and nephew, Jonny Keilen.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at The River Church, 528 4th Ave. NW, Faribault, with Pastor Steve Crombie, officiating. Interment will be at the Maple Lawn Cemetery in Faribault, with military honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Association.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home, 1725 Lyndale Ave. N., Faribault, and on Friday for one hour prior to the services at the church.
