Janet E. Miller

Janet E. Miller, age 86, of Faribault, MN, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025, following a brief illness.

Janet Elizabeth, the daughter of Martin and Beth (Frances) Gruis, was born on February 21, 1939, in St. James, MN. Janet was united in marriage to Duane Miller on February 26, 1957, in Sioux Falls, SD. Janet worked as a Certified Nurse Assistant at Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Faribault for 22 years.

She enjoyed crafts, especially stamping and painting, She loved brightening her church with her flower arrangements. She had a beautiful smile, big heart, loved every adventure thrown her way. Her family and friends knew they could count on her—she was always there when you needed her. Janet and Duane spent many summers camping at Lake Mille Lacs with their dog Booker, surrounded by family and friends.

Our mom was strong! She kept us going with her calm spirit and always knew how to make us laugh. Her strength held us together, and her humor helped us through.

She is survived by her children, Lauri Hillesheim (Dave), Chris Miller (Judy), Julie Miller (Partner Steve), Wade Miller (Mary) and Kelli Cagle (Thomas); by thirteen grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sister, Diane Albright (Bob).

She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane; parents, Martin and Beth; son in infancy, Martin Miller; and siblings, Phillip Gruis, Richard Gruis, and Cheryl Gruis.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bethel Ridge Lutheran Church in Faribault, with Rev. Dan Lazicki, officiating. Interment to follow at the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park in Faribault.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the church.
