Janet Nelson Schlitt, age 73 of Faribault, MN and formerly of Galena, IL, went to be an Angel on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 after a long and hard fought battle with Parkinson's disease.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory in Faribault. Additional services and burial will be held at a later date in Galena, IL.
Janet, the daughter of Edor and Helen (Swenson) Brostrom, was born on July 8, 1944 in Minneapolis, MN. Janet attended the University of Minnesota and received her Bachelor's Degree in Education. She taught for a short time and was always very involved in her church. Janet worked as a library assistant at the Galena Public Library. In 2014 she moved to Faribault, MN to be closer to family.
She is survived by her children, Leif Nelson of Portland, OR and Karena Nelson (Chris Carey) of Evanston, IL; by four grandchildren; by her siblings, David (Jacquie) Brostrom of Centennial, CO and Carol (Dave) McDonald of Kenyon, MN and by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Minnesota Hospice and the Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
