Janice M. Thom

Janice M. Thom, age 90 of Faribault, MN, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2026 at Deer Crest Assisted Living in Red Wing, MN.

Janice Marlene, the daughter of William and Mary (Foley) Heil was born on June 6, 1936 in Faribault, MN. She attended Bethlehem Academy High School with the class of 1954. She was united in marriage to William Thom and from this marriage they had six children. They later divorced. Jan was the assistant manager at the Faribault Woolen Mill Retail Store for many years. Jan’s family was very important to her, and she loved spending time with them, especially her grandchildren. For many years she enjoyed the annual lake trip during the summer with all her family. Jan also enjoyed bowling, gardening, shopping for bargains, traveling, and volunteering at Divine Mercy Catholic Church and the Community Café.

She is survived by her children, Steven Thom of Apple Valley, MN and his children, Shannon and AJ; Jamie (John) Lang of Red Wing, MN and their children, Steve, Anne and Zach; Sharon (Tom) Maas of Faribault, MN and their children, Kelly, Brian and Jess; Michael (Carol) Thom of Ellsworth, WI and their children, Katie, Carrie and Matt; Jeni (Charlie) Schad of Sartell, MN and their children, Kenzie, Connor and Sarah; by 22 great grandchildren; by her sister, MaryKay Krueger of Burnsville, MN and by other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Kathleen Thom, daughter-in-law, Frances Thom and brother, Kenneth Heil.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault with Fr. Alex Marquette officiating. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Faribault.

Memorial visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
