Jerry M. Swanson, age 68 of Faribault, MN, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at the Northfield Hospital from Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
Jerry Michael, the son of Paul Hedin and Shirley (Stanek) Swanson, was born on January 24, 1956 in Faribault, MN. Jerry grew up in Faribault and graduated from Faribault High School with the Class of 1974. He worked for Ryt-Way Packaging for many years before attending Mankato State University to become a Master CNC. He went on to work for K&G Manufacturing as a CNC Machinist until his retirement in 2021. He was united in marriage to the love of his life and his best friend, Maria Nuetzman, on July 21, 1978 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Faribault. Jerry loved watching his children and grandchildren grow. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, canoeing in the BWCA, camping, horse ranching, timber felling home remodeling, rebuilding his vintage Dodge Challenger, raising Great Danes, gardening vegetables and flowers, attending auctions, and watching hockey.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Maria; children, Jarrett Swanson, Michaela Swanson, Joshua (Jyl Todd) Swanson, Jeremiah Swanson, and Heather (Roberto Reyes) Kadrlik; grandsons, Jameson William Randal Swanson and Jaxson Nicholas Swanson; sister, Cheryl O’Brien Mehl (Dale); brother, Terry (Trisha) Hedin; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Swanson; father, Paul Hedin; step-father, Roger Swanson Sr.; brother, Roger Swanson Jr., sisters, Linda Zimmerman, Brenda Swanson, and Kathy Swanson; and granddaughter, Mercedez Christiana Rocha.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at the Church of St. Patrick, Shieldsville with Father Joseph Pete officiating. Interment will be held at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the church prior to Mass.
Funeral arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault.
