Joan T. Pitsavas

Joan T. Pitsavas, age 76 of Faribault, MN, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at her home.

Joan Theresa, the daughter of Leo and Irene (Caron) Thompson, was born on July 10, 1947 on the family farm outside of Faribault. She was raised in Faribault and graduated from Faribault High School with the Class of 1965. Following graduation, she was married to Donald Johnson and had two sons, Michael and Richard. They later separated and she was united in marriage to Nikolas Pitsavas at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. She worked for more than 40 years for Sheldahl. While she wasn’t working, Joan enjoyed doing arts and crafts, gardening and tending to her flowers, and spending time with her friends and family. She was a very generous person and loved talking to people and listening to them.

Joan is survived by her sons, Michael Johnson and Richard Johnson; siblings, Francis Thompson (Shelly Barnett), Veronica Newburg, Bernadette Marx, Patrick (Constance) Thompson, and Mark Thompson; step-children, Aleka Pitsavas, Loula (Brad) Valek, Nicole Pitsavas, and Dimitrios Koutsageros; 7 step-grandchildren; good friends, Shirley Herrin and Jo Caron; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Nikolas; and sisters, Carol Nichols and Marlene Karow.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at 10:30 A.M. at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, with Father Cory Rohlfing officiating. Interment will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery in Northfield, MN.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Parker Kohl Funeral Home and will continue Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at the church.
