John P. Dotterweich Sr.

John P. Dotterweich Sr., age 83, of Morristown, MN, passed away August 3, 2026, at the Benedictine Living Community in Owatonna, MN, following an extended illness.

John Paul, the son of Michael and Marie (Gray) Dotterweich, was born on February 25, 1943, in Northfield, MN. He attended Hayward High School, then served three tours of duty in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1961 – 1969, receiving numerous commendations. He also spent some of his time in the Army training horses. John was an over-the-road (OTR) truck driver for over 40 years. After his retirement in 2006, he drove truck for a few years for David LaCanne Paving.

John was married to Susan Antoville on May 29, 1994, in Faribault, MN. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, motorcycle riding, snowmobiling, and anything with danger. He was a very talented mechanic, fixing his own trucks while OTR, and in retirement he restored cars, trucks, and worked on other’s cars. He was a member of the Faribault Moose Lodge, and the Morristown American Legion Post 149.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Dotterweich; son, Chris Dotterweich; Susan’s children, Jack Fugalli (Emily), and Lori Krenske (Kevin); nine grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; siblings, Dennis Dotterweich (Cheryl), David Dotterweich (Judy), Richard Dotterweich (Joan), Linda Jordan, and Lynn Kelsey (Arthur); sisters-in-law, Vonnie Dotterweich, and Vickie Dotterweich; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Marie; son, John P. Dotterweich Jr.; and siblings, Cletus, Mark, and Brian Dotterweich.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home, 1725 Lyndale Ave. N., Faribault. Military honors will be at 5:30 p.m., provided by the Morristown American Legion Post 149.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Furball Farm Cat Sanctuary in Faribault.
