John J. “Jack” Sammon, age 89, of Faribault, MN, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Mill City Senior Living.
John Joseph was born on June 6, 1936, in Morristown, MN, the son of Joseph and Mary (Hanley) Sammon. He grew up on a farm in Warsaw Township in Rice County and graduated from Faribault High School in 1954. He then entered military service with the U.S. Army eventually serving in Europe. Following his honorable discharge from the Army he returned to Faribault and started his employment at McQuay International, where he worked for 42 years, retiring in 1998. On September 10, 1960, he married Ardis Raskob at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with Father Tschann officiating. Jack enjoyed playing softball, golf, bowling, cards, traveling with Ardie.
He is survived by his two sons, Jeff of Arden Hills and Brian (Patricia) of Edina; their two children, Matilde and Gabriel; siblings, Gen (Homer) Guimond of Shakopee, and Marion Pirkl of Owatonna; and by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary; wife, Ardis; siblings, Eileen Sammon, Myron Sammon, Charlie Sammon, George Sammon, Francis Sammon, Donald Sammon, Catherine Maas, Theresa Van Zuilen, Evelyn Sammon, Florence Maas, Bill Sammon, Norita Reuvers, and Ray Sammon.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, Faribault. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the services. Interment will be at the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Faribault at a later date.
Memorials may be directed to Bethlehem Academy High School or the American Cancer Society in memory of Jack.
