John J. Zoubek

Rosemount

John J. Zoubek, age 72 of Rosemount, MN and formerly of Medford and Faribault, MN, died on Friday, May 10, 2024 at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, MN, after a brief illness.

John Joseph was born on September 22, 1951 in Faribault, MN to John and Alvina (Mahowald) Zoubek.  John attended a one room country school through sixth grade and then moved to  Immaculate Conception grade school for seventh and eighth grade.  John attended Bethlehem Academy High School and graduated with the class of 1969.  After graduation from Southwest State with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, he started his career with General Electric in Schenectady, NY where he met and married Ruth Bulson.  They were married on September 14, 1974 in Scotia, NY. Ruth preceded John in death on January 12, 2012.  

John and Ruth lived in various parts of the country.   From Schenectady, they moved to Vincennes, IN where Jennifer was born March 18, 1976. While they lived in Westmont, IL they welcomed John Robert who was born December 20, 1979.  From there they spent time in Nebraska and Texas until they finally moved back to Minnesota in 1988, first living in Faribault and then Medford, MN.  John retired in the early 2000’s.

John married Deb Lene on December 14, 2019.  Most recently John was working at Pahl’s Market Garden Center in Apple Valley during the spring and summer months planting flowers and vegetables, and delivering CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) boxes to pickup points around the metro area.  John was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rosemount and the Knights of Columbus.  Besides his love for gardening and yard work, he enjoyed time on motorcycle trips and snowmobiling vacations with friends and family.

John is survived by his wife Deb Zoubek of Rosemount, MN; by his children, Jennifer Zoubek (Justin Nordhausen) of Minneapolis, MN and John R. (Agneiska) Zoubek of Denver, CO; by three grandchildren, Emily Zoubek and Andrew Zoubek of Faribault, MN and Zoey Nordhausen of Minneapolis, MN; by his siblings, Mary (Randy) Mell of Caledonia, MN, Peg (John) Pavlik of Coon Rapids, MN and Don (Jane) Zoubek of Andover, MN; by his step children, BJ (Jody) Ronken of Kasson, MN and Andrew (Debbie) Ronken of Phoenix, AZ; by three step grandchildren, Jordyn Ronken, Taylor Ronken and Zachary Ronken and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Ruth and by a stepson, Kevin Ronken.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault with Fr. Clayton Forner officiating. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Faribault.

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday for one hour prior to services.  

The family prefers that memorials be directed to Bethlehem Academy High School, the Knights of Columbus or a charity of the donor’s choice in memory of John.
