Joseph Plumb Jr.

July 22, 1936 — October 2, 2021

Faribault, MN

Joseph A. Plumb Jr., age 85, of Faribault, MN, and formerly of Maplewood, MN, and Knife Lake, MN, passed away Saturday, October 2, 2021, at New Perspectives in Faribault.

Joe was born on July 22, 1936, in St. Paul, MN, to Joseph Sr. and Loretta (Doyle) Plumb.  He was very proud of growing up on the east side of St. Paul and his Italian heritage.  He graduated from St. Thomas Academy and served in the U.S. Army for 4 years, stationed mostly in Germany. He was united in marriage to Carole Peterson on May 2, 1964.  Joe had a lengthy career with NSP (Xcel Energy), working 42 years in fieldwork, traveling around the Midwest troubleshooting and repairing substations.  He loved his life at their cabin near Lake Mille Lacs, enjoying boating, fishing, and walks with Carole. They always enjoyed the companionship of their yellow lab, Copper. Joe was also handy, enjoyed fixing things, and caring for his yard.  He took pride in never paying anyone to fix something and having the ability to do it himself or figure it out.  Joe also took the time to teach his son how to fix things and always enjoyed a hard day’s work.  Having his granddaughter being left-handed like him made Joe happy.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carole Plumb of Faribault; son, Joseph Plumb III (Shari) of Lonsdale, MN; granddaughter, Kaylynn Plumb; siblings, Richard “Dick” Plumb of St. Paul and Colleen “Kelly” Ryan (Ron) of Lino Lakes, MN; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Private family services were held.
