Kathleen Ann Deney, “Kathy” age 70 of Plymouth, formerly of Faribault, MN passed away peacefully at Edgemont Place on September 24, 2023 surrounded my her loving family and caregivers.
Kathy was born in Owatonna, MN on June 6th 1953 to Patsy and John Anonby, where she was raised and eventually moved to Faribault to attend Faribault High School. She met Kevin Deney while attending school and they married on October 16, 1970 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Faribault. They welcomed their first daughter, Babette on January 18th, 1971 and bought their home in Faribault. Kathy continued her education as a Head Start teacher in Faribault. They welcomed their second daughter, Sarah on September 7th, 1979. Kathy worked for Hormel Foods in Faribault for 44 years, leading the quality control department, retiring in 2018. Kathy was an incredible mother to Babette and Sarah and wife to Kevin and her family was her entire focus in life.
Kathy enjoyed attending sporting events for her girls and later her grandkids, traveling, gardening, antiquing, reading, walking, playing volleyball with her friends, and frequented a regular girls night.
In recent years, Kevin and Kathy moved to Plymouth to be closer to family. They fully explored the cities including parks, lakes, and restaurants. Kathy found so much joy in her role as a grandmother to Emma, Harrison, Maddie, and Harper. There is nothing she wouldn’t do to spoil them with her love – she would often refer to her grandchildren as her only hobby in recent years. Kathy lived her life with a joyous spirit, a love of family, and deep commitment to living life to its fullest and being the best mother and grandmother she could be. That is how we will always remember her.
Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, Patsy (Bill) Messig and John (Dorothy) Anonby. She is survived by her husband, Kevin Deney, by her daughters, Babette (Scott) Schoenig, Sarah (Matt) Taylor; by her grandchildren, Emma, Harrison, Maddie, and Harper, and by her brothers, Kevin (Joann) Anonby and Daniel (Cindy) Anonby, and by many relatives and friends.
The family will hold a private memorial service. A celebration of life and lunch will be held at Parker Kohl Funeral Home on Friday September 29th with a gathering of family and friends from 2-5pm. Private interment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to Ecumen Hospice (ecumen.org).
