Leo Lacanne

October 10, 1929 — March 30, 2018

Leo F. LaCanne, age 88, of Faribault, MN passed away on Friday, March 30, 2018, at the Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna, MN.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at the new location of Parker Kohl Funeral Home, 1725 Lyndale Ave. N, Faribault, with Bernadette Tatge, pastoral minister of Divine Mercy Church, officiating. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Faribault, with military honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Association.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Leo Francis was born on October 10, 1929, on the family farm in Morristown Township, Rice County, MN to Louis and Anne (Spinler) LaCanne. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Leo returned home and began his lifelong farming career. He also received training in carpentry. Leo was married to Lucille Meixner on January 30, 1951 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Owatonna. She preceded him in death on May 12, 1974. Leo later married Carol Krahulec on October 21, 1989 at the St. Canice Catholic Church in Kilkenny. Leo and Carol operated LaCanne Rabbitry for many years. She preceded him in death on May 12, 2010. Leo enjoyed fishing, word finds, bird watching, tinkering, carpentry, collecting John Deere tractors, and was constantly reorganizing and remodeling. He was a past member of the Eagles Club and Moose Lodge in Faribault.

He is survived by his children, Rebecca LaCanne (Lyle Kline) and Ronald (Gwen) LaCanne, both of Faribault; grandchildren, Katie Jo (Jon) Vargo, Jill (Tom) Prinzing, and Sam Kline (Samantha Hutchinson); step-granddaughter, Jennifer Kline; great grandchildren, Jackson and Kinsey Vargo, Aaron Prinzing, and Tessa Kline; sister, Carol LaCanne of Faribault; brothers-in-law, Donald Ress of Faribault, and Jim Krahulec; sister-in-law, Lucille LaCanne of Faribault; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his spouses, Lucille and Carol; parents, Louis and Anne; step-son, Steve Broten; brother, Marvin LaCanne; and sister, JoAnn Ress.
