Lucille M. Olson, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished member of the Faribault business community, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Born in Hope, Minnesota, on October 25, 1934, to Alice and Joseph Miller, Lucille spent her childhood in both Hope and Owatonna before moving to Faribault after marrying Donald Olson. Together, they raised five children: Lucinda (Steve Mahoney), Tim (Patricia), Lana (Arthur Sainio), LeeAnn (John Hard), and David.
After the passing of her husband, Donald, in 1991, Lucille demonstrated tremendous strength and determination by earning her insurance license and successfully carrying on Landmark Insurance Agency alongside her son David, until she retired at the age of 88. Her commitment to hard work and family was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Besides servicing her beloved seniors in her insurance agency, Lucille had a passion for travel that took her to many remarkable places across the United States, including Alaska, California, Wisconsin, and Texas, for visits to children and grandchildren. She also explored the world internationally, visiting Israel, China, Tahiti, and many other destinations, embracing new cultures and experiences with enthusiasm and wonder.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Joe, Ernest, Raphael, and Bill; her sisters, Gladys (Terpstra) and Zenobia (Dusek); brothers-in-law, Jim Granowski, Allan Terpstra, and Bob Dusek; sisters-in-law, Libby Miller and Mary Ellen Miller. Besides all her children, she is also survived by her sister, Joyce (Granowski), and sister-in-law, Marian Miller. She leaves behind a legacy of devotion to her family, resilience, and love through her children, 10 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren who will carry her memory forward.
The family would like to thank the loving staff and aids at New Perspective Assisted Living and Brighton Hospice, whose unending kindness made her final days more comfortable.
