Lucille “Luci” Nelson, age 85, of Honolulu, HI, passed away September 22, 2025, at Queen’s West Hospital in Honolulu.
Lucille Catherine, the daughter of Theodore and Teresa (Clark) Jewett, was born on April 30, 1940, in Faribault, MN. She was the oldest of eight, her siblings are Anna, Eileen, Mary, Geraldine, Margaret, Thomas, and Leon. She graduated from Bethlehem Academy High School with the class of 1958. She was married to Ronald T. Nelson on November 28, 1957. Luci was passionate about education and nursing. She completed coursework to be a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), then attended American University in Washington D.C. for her Registered Nurse (RN) degree. She furthered her education, completing her Master of Science in Public Health Nursing (MSN-PH), and Master of Science in Nurse Practitioner (NP), specializing in Maternal Child Health. Luci’s nursing career started as a volunteer at the Great Lakes Naval Hospital in Great Lakes, MI. As she and Ron traveled with his Naval career, she worked at different hospitals. They settled in Hawaii, where Luci was the manager of a clinic for impoverished people in Ewa Beach for many years. They returned to Faribault where Luci continued her care by owning and operating the Inn Town House, caring for elderly patients. She operated the Inn Town House for six years before returning to Hawaii. Luci was a warm, caring person, who would always be willing to listen to others and help them with any situation. She and Ron dedicated themselves to missionary work, most notably with the Hope Alive team, traveling the world to train people to be counselors for mothers that had experienced an abortion.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald T. Nelson; children, Debra Nelson, Michael Nelson, Sharon Olivas (Frank), and Ronald T. Nelson Jr. (Connie); her grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home, 1725 Lyndale Ave. N., Faribault, with Deacon Dan Murphy, officiating. Interment will be at the St. Columbanus Cemetery in Blooming Prairie, MN. Visitation will be held on Friday from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
