Marie Ellen (Walsh) Hoffman was born on November 24, 1946, to Joseph and Ruth (Cromer) Walsh. Her mother was a homemaker raising five daughters. Her father, an Army veteran, made a living for his family with a Phillips 66 gas station located at the corner of 1st Ave. and 1st St. NE (1st and 1st).
Marie graduated from Bethlehem Academy in 1964. She married her childhood sweetheart, Carroll Joseph (Butch) Hoffman Jr. in 1965. Their union gave them one son. Steve and his wife Kim gave Marie two grandchildren, Jake and Joe. Together they gave Marie four great-grandchildren.
Marie found her calling with an entry level position with the Faribault Public Schools. Thirty-two years would pass and she rose to be the level of Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent. She worked with thirty-one school board members and nine Superintendents. She retired the last day of May in 2008.
In that year she met Lou Stender. They spent their years together at a little cabin on Antler Lake in northern Minnesota and Harley Davidson adventures across America. They visited many historical sites.
On November 30, 2025, Marie went to her final rest at the New Perspectives Senior Living where she received loving care.
Maria Marie Sangria cherished her friends and clothes with a little bling. She leaves behind the love of those close to her and takes our love with her.
A time to Celebrate Marie’s life will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home, 1725 Lyndale Ave. N., Faribault. A service of remembrance will begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by a time for sharing.
