Marilyn "Connie" McCarthy

October 25, 1924 — April 23, 2024

Faribault

In loving memory of Connie McCarthy, who passed away on April 23, 2024, at the age of 99.

Connie was born on October 25, 1924, in St Paul, MN.   She cherished her childhood in St Paul, often reminiscing about roller skating around the neighborhood, taking the streetcar downtown, and attending beloved events like the State Fair and Winter Carnival with her friends. She attended St Joseph’s Academy and later graduated from Central High School in St. Paul.

Connie's life was marked by friendship and devotion. Before marrying her husband Jack in 1946, she worked as a flight attendant at Northwest Airlines. After marriage, she dedicated herself to raising their four children.

Throughout her life, Connie formed strong friendships wherever she went. From her St. Paul childhood friends to the close-knit community in Bloomington and later at Cardinal Pointe in Faribault, she always found joy in the company of others. Her ability to connect with others left a lasting impact on all who knew her. A dear friend of Connie’s shared, “She touched so many lives. I’m grateful that mine was one of them.” This sentiment encapsulates Connie perfectly.

In retirement, Connie and Jack split their time between Pequot Lakes, MN, and Destin, FL, before settling in Faribault, MN nearly 20 years ago.

Connie had a passion for leisure activities, including golfing, playing cards, and visits to the casino. She particularly enjoyed bingo. Friends and family came from near and far to play bingo, share laughs, and create lasting memories with Connie.

Connie was a devout Catholic, finding solace and strength in her faith. Her spirituality was a guiding force in her life, providing her with comfort and perspective in both good times and bad. You could always count on Connie to "mumble the beads" for you in a time of need. Connie will be remembered for her warmth, her love for her family and dear friends, and her ability to find joy in everyday moments.

She is survived by her children, Lynn (David) Kopfmann of Prior Lake, MN, Michael (Stacey) McCarthy of Blanchardville, WI, Dennis McCarthy of Winnetka, CA, Kerry (Heather) McCarthy of Humboldt, IA; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren, her sister, Jeanne Kelly of Fargo, ND, sister-in-law, Mary Widman of Mendota Heights; as well as many nieces and nephews and her loving and supportive Cardinal Pointe community.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jack, her parents, and her brothers, Sev and Joe, as well as many dear friends.

Connie's legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in peace, her spirit forever cherished.

Should friends desire, we ask memorial contributions be made to the charity of your choice.
