Marilyn T. Schema

Marilyn T. Schema, age 90 of Faribault, MN passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, June 28, 2024 at the Benedictine Living Community in Owatonna, MN following a brief illness.

Marilyn Therese, the daughter of Hugo and Genevieve (Rosett) Misgen was born on August 20, 1933 in Faribault, MN. She attended Bethlehem Academy High School and graduated with the class of 1951. Following high school Marilyn attended the College of St. Catherine’s School of Nursing and became a Registered Nurse. On October 1, 1955 she was united in marriage to Charles Schema at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Faribault. Chuck preceded her in death on May 7, 2023. Marilyn began her nursing career at St. Mary’s Hospital in Minneapolis. Later she worked at St. Lucas and District One Hospital and was also a school nurse for District 656 for 15 years. Marilyn was an active member of Divine Mercy Catholic Church, from visiting members at their homes, to being one of the founding members of the prayer shawl ministry. Marilyn had a tremendous love for her family and especially enjoyed hosting gatherings at their farm home and at their home on Roberds Lake, where she grew up with her family. Marilyn and Chuck loved the water and enjoyed many trips to the North Shore and Grand Marais. Marilyn loved to garden and was also an avid garage sale and antique shopper, spending many weekends traveling to different sales. 

She is survived by her children, Anthony (Julie) Schema, Thomas (Angie) Schema, John Schema, Mary (Wyatt) Reed and Kay (Neal) Kosberg; by 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; by her sister-in-law, Eileen Sloan and by other relatives and friends 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, Raymond Misgen, Robert (Ruth) Misgen and Richard (Janet) Misgen, sister, Candice Braun and nephew, Jim Braun.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 8, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Faribault. 

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday for one hour prior to services.

The family prefers that memorials be directed to Divine Mercy Catholic School or Bethlehem Academy High School in memory of Marilyn
