Mary Jane DeGonda, age 82 of Faribault, MN, passed away on Friday, November 29, 2024 at Amira Choice Living in Bloomington, MN following her third courageous battle with cancer.
Mary Jane, the daughter of Edward Sr. and Georgiana (David) Edel, was born on September 7, 1942 in Shieldsville, MN. She attended Montgomery High School and graduated with the class of 1960. On September 25, 1963 she was united in marriage to Robert DeGonda at the Church of St. Patrick in Shieldsville, MN. She was a loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother. Mary Jane worked for 25 years in the House Keeping Department at District One Hospital in Faribault. She was very proud of her work and would often visit with the patient’s whose room she was cleaning and offer words of encouragement in their recovery. She also loved to help others with Cancer education and talk about her experience to help them through their journey. Mary Jane also coordinated many of the hospital parties over the years and helped with decorating the hospital at different times.
She was a social butterfly and enjoyed visiting with others. She also enjoyed baking, shopping and occasional trips to the casino.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert DeGonda; by two daughters, Victoria (Steven) Eikaas and their children, Erin and Devin; Barbara (John) Miller and their children, Kyle and fiancé Brittany Dahl-Holm, Briana and fiancé, Calin Schubert and Connor (Mikayla) Hong; by three great grandchildren; by her siblings, Milo (Helen) Edel, Edward Edel Jr., Joseph (Rita) Edel, James (Judy) Edel, Angeline Stoldt, Raymond (Kathy) Edel and Ronald (Jan) Edel and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault.
Memorial visitation will be held at the church on Friday morning from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.
