Mavis Ordell Brandenburg (Halverson), age 91 of Faribault, MN passed away on Friday, January 22, 2021 at her home following an extended illness surrounded by her family.

Born July 13, 1929 in Severance Township, Sibley County, Minnesota to Leslie W. and Mary (Phillips) Halverson.  Mavis graduated from Janesville High School in 1947.  She attended Hamline Asbury School of Nursing and graduated in 1950 as an R.N.  Mavis worked as both an active and self-employed R.N. for a total of 50 years.  She was a member of the American Red Cross for over 40 years, as well as an Asbury Methodist Alumni Association member for 56 years.  She married Gerald J. Brandenburg in 1952 and they had 6 children.  Mavis enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, and spending time with family.  Mavis also enjoyed bowling, being dubbed “Fireball Brandenburg” after winning a tournament.

Mavis is survived by 5 children, Jeri Matakis of Corpus Christi, TX; Susan (Alan) Roesler of Blue Earth, MN; John Brandenburg of Wheeling Township, MN; Mary Brandenburg of Winona, MN; James Brandenburg of Faribault, MN; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter Linda Campbell; parents; two sisters; two brothers; and parents-in-law Alonzo and Marie Brandenburg.

Burial is planned for spring 2021 in Clear Lake Norwegian Lutheran Cemetery in Sibley County, MN.  No service outside of family.  In lieu of flowers or gifts to the family, please consider making a donation to the Salvation Army or another worthy cause in her name.

Arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home and Crematory in Faribault.
