Maynard J. Simon, age 78 of Lakeville, MN and formerly of Faribault, MN passed away Sunday, May 17, 2026 at Kingsley Shores Senior Living in Lakeville following an extended illness.
Maynard Joseph Simon was born in Faribault on November 9, 1947 to Raymond and Adeline (Rosenau) Simon. Maynard served in the Vietnam War and was a proud Veteran, having been impacted significantly by his service and time in Vietnam. After his honorable discharge from the Air Force, he made his home in and worked in Faribault. In 1977 he married Ann Regenschied, they welcomed Melissa Ann in 1979, and they later divorced. He married Janice Souza in 2010, and she passed away in 2014. In 2021, after meeting at the Faribault Senior Center years earlier, he married Jackie (Johnson) Hagel in Faribault. They moved to Lakeville in 2024. Maynard was a member of the American Legion and the Moose Lodge, and with the help of the VA and AA, had been sober for 35 years. He enjoyed music, his Jeeps, the Vikings, and chatting with friends and family.
He is survived by his loving wife Jackie, her children Richard (Lori) Johnson of Waterville, Patty (Tony) Novak of Elko, Amy (Chris) Lake of Chaska, Ben Johnson of Wrenshall, and Kris (Jeff) Reents of Coon Rapids; Janice’s children Colleen (Christopher) Goodwin of Waseca, Constance Souza of Faribault, Richard Daily of Waseca, Robert Daily of Faribault, Cheryl (Robb Mullenberg) Stewart of Faribault, Rodney (Diane) Daily of Black Duck, Roy (Shana) Daily of Slogan Valley, and Christina Parkos of Owatonna; daughter Melissa Klemz, Medford, MN; sister Beverly Johnson, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Maynard was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Margaret J Berninghaus; wife Janice Simon; brother-in-law Gary Johnson; daughter-in-law Laura Daily; grandchildren Nathan Stewart, Ashlea Daily, and Joseph Lake.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault with Fr. Alex Marquette officiating. Interment will be held at the Maple Lawn Cemetery in Faribault.
Visitation will be held at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church on Thursday morning form 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
