Michael Knofler, 72, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away on July 18, 2026 in Faribault, MN. Born on May 23, 1954, he lived a life defined by humor, resilience, and the ability to find something to smile about no matter where the road took him.

For many years, Michael worked as an over‑the‑road truck driver, logging countless miles across the country. While the road can be a hard place, he found moments of light in it — the small, unexpected scenes that made him laugh or shake his head with that familiar grin. With a camera always nearby, he captured the beautiful sides of his journeys, turning long stretches of highway into snapshots of the world as he saw it. Photography wasn’t just a hobby; it was how he shared the humor, wonder, and quiet moments he discovered along the way.

Michael also carried an eclectic taste in music, a soundtrack that followed him through every chapter of his life. From long nights on the road to quiet moments at home, music was one of his greatest joys — and it became a gift he passed down to his daughter, shaping her own love for the songs and artists he cherished.

Even when life became unfair in his later years, Michael held onto his humor. He had a way of making people laugh when they needed it most, and he endured every challenge with a joke ready and a smile that made others feel lighter. His greatest motivation was his daughter, and he fought through the hardest days to witness her milestones, proud of the woman she became. In his final chapter, she moved him closer to her so they could spend that time together.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Margery and Verle Knofler. He is survived by his daughter; Ashley Knofler and husband Phillip Gullickson; dear friends Steve and Linda Hasnjager who will forever miss his laugh, his strength, and the way he found humor in places most people overlooked.

A small ceremony will be held with his loved ones as they gather to spread his ashes at his final resting place, honoring his life, his journey, and the memories he leaves behind.
