Michael "Mike" Holmgren

Michael “Mike” Holmgren, age 84 of Faribault, MN passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at Milestone Senior Living in Faribault following a battle with Parkinsons.

Michael Kent, the son of Kenneth and Arlene (Murphy) Holmgren, was born on January 13, 1941 in Austin, MN. He attended and graduated from Johnson High School with the Class of 1959. Mike enlisted in the United State Navy and was involved during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Following his time in the Navy, he attended Vocational School and graduated in 1965. Mike worked in IT for the State of Minnesota. He was united in marriage to Myrna Wade, and they had three children together. She preceded him in death in 2007.

He moved to Faribault in 2010 after reconnecting with Janet Miller. Their relationship was truly special. Mike enjoyed antiquing, fishing, collecting tractors, cars, and trains, listening to music, especially the oldies, and spending time with Janet.

Mike is survived by his significant other, Janet Miller; sons, Steven (Sherry) Holmgren and David (Kim) Holmgren; many grandchildren; siblings, Mary (Pam), Steve (Bev), Jon, Cindy, Joan, and Chuck (Liz); nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Myrna; daughter, Susan Vanswol; and brother-in-law, Dave Devoy.

Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at 11:30 A.M. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory, Faribault. Visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 A.M.
