Miriam I. Turner, age 83 of Faribault, MN and formerly of Edina, MN passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at her home.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Miriam Irene, the daughter of Fred and Renee (Lathrop) Smith was born on July 28, 1940 in Minneapolis, MN. She attended Edina High School and graduated with the class of 1958. On April 9, 1960 she was united in marriage to Spencer A. Turner in Edina. Spencer preceded her in death on April 13, 2024. Miriam stayed at home to raise their family. Later she would volunteer with the Children’s Hospital Minneapolis Bambi Chapter. The most important thing to Miriam was watching her grandchildren become who they are today. She loved spending summers with them at their cabin on Leech Lake. Miriam also enjoyed vacations to Florida and road trips to visit many Presidential Libraries. She enjoyed playing bridge, knitting, bowling, fishing, and watching her favorite soap operas. If you wanted to know anything about football, hockey, baseball or golf – Miriam had the answer as she was an avid sports fan.

She is survived by her children, Lisa Roddy (Bob Stephens) of Walker, MN, Tom Turner (Renee) of Apple Valley, MN and Becky Schmitz and Craig Johnson of Faribault, MN; seven grandchildren, Sarah Kirkwood (Matt) of Crystal, MN, Mary Roddy of Rochester, MN, Spencer Roddy of Sneads Ferry, NC, Alex Schmitz (Kayla) of Faribault, MN, Annika Schmitz of Faribault, MN, Laura Turner of Apple Valley, MN and Matthew Turner of Apple Valley, MN; great granddaughter, Laiken Schmitz of Faribault, MN; by her brother, Bill Smith and her sister, Debra Smith and by extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Spencer Turner, by her parents, Fred and Renee Smith, by her sister, Cheryl Smith and by her grandson, Andrew Schmitz.
