Muriel A. Gruber, age 90 of Faribault, MN passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at Faribault Senior Living following an extended illness.
Muriel Alice, the daughter of William and Phoebe (Langan) Brown was born on January 18, 1936 in St. Paul, MN. She attended St. Joseph’s Academy and graduated with the class of 1954. Following high school Muriel attended the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul and earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. Muriel began her teaching career in International Falls and later transferred to Burnsville High School for eight years. On October 15, 1966 she was united in marriage to Leonard L. Gruber Jr. in St. Paul, MN. Leonard preceded her in death on November 24, 2020. After their marriage Muriel was a counselor St. Anne’s Group Home and then started as a Pastoral Minister with different churches in St. Paul and Robbinsdale, MN. Later she worked at Kowalski’s in St. Paul and JCPenney’s in Faribault. Muriel and Len were very involved in different church activities and spent many years involved with Cursillo Retreats and Marriage Encounter weekends. Muriel cooking, traveling, going on car rides, gardening and arranging flowers that Leonard had grown in his garden.
She is survived by her son, Steven (Michelle) Gruber of Faribault; by two granddaughters, Jordyn Keprios and Chloe Keprios (Jacob Messer); by great granddaughter, Lucille Rose Meier and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, William Gruber and brother, Jerry Brown.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault with Fr. Cory Rohlfing officiating. Interment will be held at the Calvary Cemetery in Faribault.
Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
