Myron Degroot

August 30, 1927 — April 7, 2017

Myron "Mynie" DeGroot, age 89, of Faribault, MN died on Friday, April 7, 2017 at the Milestone Senior Living in Faribault following an extended illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, Faribault. Interment will be at the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Faribault.

Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.

Arrangements are with the Parker Kohl Funeral Home of Faribault.

Myron Edward was born on August 30, 1927 in Cannon City Township, Rice County, MN to John and Martina (Van Der) DeGroot. He married Leola Kes on February 23, 1952 in Northfield, MN. Mynie operated a trucking company before his 40-year career as a carpenter. As a carpenter he worked mostly for Bonson Construction and Watson-Forsberg Construction. He also owned and operated D&H Lodge from 1969 - 1985. Mynie enjoyed fishing, playing euchre, and used his skills to build his own homes and the Lodge. He was a member of the Faribault Eagles Aerie 1460 and Knights of Columbus Council 889.

He is survived by three children, Kathy (Jim) Caron, Linda (Jerry) Tousignant, and Larry "Moe" (Nancy) DeGroot, all of Faribault; 11 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Kay Kes of Faribault, and Pam DeGroot of St. Roberts, MO; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Leola; parents, John and Martina; son, Gerald DeGroot; and seven brothers and four sisters.
