Ralph Hunt

Ralph “Barney” Hunt, age 90 of Faribault, MN passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at the Three Links Care Center Reflections Unit in Northfield, MN following an extended illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive in Faribault with Fr. Brandon Theisen, officiating.  Interment will be held at the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park with military honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Organization.

Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m.

Arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault.

Ralph Edward, the son of Thomas E. and Myrtle (Karow) Hunt was born on January 30, 1928 in Faribault.  He attended Bethlehem Academy High School and graduated with the class of 1946.  Following high school Ralph served in the U.S. Army with the Company B 42nd Engineer Construction Battalion from Aug. 1946 to Jan. 1948.  On April 21, 1951 he was united in marriage to Phyllis Mensing at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Faribault.  Phyllis preceded him in death on Dec. 17, 2014.  Ralph owned and operated Winjum Transfer for many years.  He also was a bartender for many years at the V.F.W. Post 1562 and in retirement worked at Nelson’s grocery store.  Ralph had a great loyalty to Bethlehem Academy High School, supporting the staff and many fundraisers over the years.  Ralph was a member of the V.F.W. Post 1562 in Faribault, one of the few remaining members of the V.F.W. Post 1562 Last Man’s Club and was an honorary member of the St. Paul Clown Club.

He is survived by his daughters, Nancy (Mike) Hinnenkamp of Plymouth, MN and Kathy (Fred) Kruger of Faribault, MN; by two grandchildren, Stephanie (Ryan) Fabick of Shoreview, MN and Christopher Hinnenkamp of St. Louis Park, MN; by two great grandchildren, Andrew and Joshua Fabick; by his brother, Gordy Hunt of Faribault, MN; by his brother-in-law, Bruce (Marie) Mensing of Lakeville, MN; by three sisters-in-law, Esther (Wayne) Winjum of Faribault, MN, Barbara (Paul) Hanson of Northfield, MN and Carol Mensing of Ottertail, MN and by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis, parents, his sister, Marion (Edgar) Schuenke, by two brothers, Gene and Howard Hunt, by his sisters-in-law, Eileen Hunt and Sharon Mensing Aragon (Ignacio), and by two brothers-in-law, Jerry and Stewart Mensing.
