Robert Misgen

Robert L. "Bob" Misgen, age 87 of Faribault, MN, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at the Milestone Senior Living in Faribault following an extended illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Patrick in Shieldsville, MN with Fr. George Grafsky, officiating. Interment will be held at St. Lawrence Cemetery, Faribault.

Visitation will be held at the new location of Parker Kohl Funeral Home, 1725 Lyndale Ave. N., in Faribault on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to services.

The family prefers that memorials be directed to Bethlehem Academy High School in memory of Bob.

Robert Lawrence, the son of Hugo and Genevieve (Rosett) Misgen, was born on January 18, 1930 in Faribault, MN. He attended Faribault High School and graduated with the class of 1947. Following high school Bob attended St. John's University in Collegeville and then the University of Minnesota and received his degree in Business Administration. On November 29, 1958 he was united in marriage to Ruth Arndt at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Faribault. Bob and Ruth were lifelong farmers in Wells Township, near Roberds Lake. Bob was an avid outdoorsman. He spent many happy days on the lake fishing, hunting deer and other wildlife, and gardening, growing lots of butternut squash, potatoes and corn. In addition to being a successful dairy and crop farmer, he was also an avid reader, skilled woodcarver and a dedicated rose grower. He loved local history and family genealogy. He enjoyed socializing and spending time with family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Misgen of Faribault, MN; by four children, Roberta Misgen of Faribault, MN, Andrea (Paul) Vogel of Plymouth, MN, Maria (Dale) Biros of Shoreview, MN and Dan (Emily) Misgen of Faribault, MN; by five grandchildren, Amy Vogel, Mike Vogel, Matthew Vogel, Luke Biros and Sarah Biros; by three siblings, Candace Braun of Faribault, MN, Richard (Jan) Misgen of Faribault, MN and Marilyn (Chuck) Schema of Faribault, MN and by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Raymond Misgen.
