Sheryl J. Miller

August 11, 1949 — October 30, 2025

Faribault

Sheryl Joann Miller, age 76, of Faribault, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Alice Duckett; her husband, Robert Miller; her daughter, Angela Miller; her brothers, William and Dick Duckett; and her sisters, Rajean and Nancy.

She is survived by her son, Wayne (Kimberly) Miller, along with many other loving relatives and friends.

A Life Filled with Love and Dedication

Sheryl was born in Des Moines, Iowa, where her parents owned a bakery. When she was a young girl, the family moved to Minnesota. She learned the value of hard work early, even spending her youth working at a local cannery.

In high school, Sheryl met the love of her life, Bob Miller, who affectionately called her “Quack Quack.” After graduation, Sheryl worked at the state school, using her wages to help put Bob through college at Mankato State University and officer training.

Sheryl married her high school sweetheart on March 21, 1970, at First English Lutheran Church. During Bob’s service as a helicopter pilot in the U.S. Marine Corps, they lived in North Carolina and Florida. Sheryl embraced the life of an officer’s wife—traveling, crafting, caring for their animals, and joining Bob on adventures overseas, including time spent exploring Spain.

Home, Family, and Service

After returning to Faribault, Sheryl and Bob settled into the community they loved and raised their children, Wayne and Angie. Sheryl worked as a home health aide with the Rice County Public Health Department for 29 years, touching countless lives with her empathy and kindness. Her compassion and gentle humor brought light to those she cared for and to everyone who knew her.

Sheryl and Bob were active in their community, and she proudly served as President of the American Legion Post 43 Auxiliary.

More than anything, Sheryl loved her roles as a mother, sister, wife, and daughter. She and Bob made their home in the house Bob’s father had built, surrounded by wonderful neighbors and lifelong friends.

A Life Well Lived

Sheryl was a fighter, facing cancer with courage and grace for many years. She found joy in simple pleasures—sewing clothes for herself and Bob, sharing favorite recipes, and hosting gatherings where everyone felt welcome. Her home was the kind of place every kid wanted to be, full of laughter, warmth, and good food.

Those who knew her will remember her humor, her generous heart, and her unwavering spirit.

Sheryl Miller will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were lucky enough to know her. She was living proof that those of small stature have mighty hearts indeed.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Funeral arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory.
