Shirley Martin

Shirley M. St. Martin, age 80, of Faribault, MN, passed away Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, Faribault. Interment will be at the St. Patrick's Cemetery in Shieldsville, MN.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the new location of Parker Kohl Funeral Home, 1725 Lyndale Ave. N., Faribault, and on Tuesday for one hour prior to the services at the church.

Shirley Mary was born on December 11, 1936 in Shieldsville Township, Rice County, MN. She was raised by her parents, Philip and Alice Frechette. Shirley worked at Andrew's Nursery prior to her marriage. She was united in marriage to Wayne St. Martin Sr. on April 30, 1960 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Faribault. She then worked at the Turkey Plant in Faribault and cleaned homes for many years. Shirley volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul and donated numerous quilts she made to many organizations. She was faithful and dedicated to her church as well. Shirley loved her horses, which had always been a childhood dream to have her own. Wayne and Shirley enjoyed horseback riding and with friends of theirs, started the Flying "R" Saddle Club. They would go on trail rides with their club, many times in the Red Wing area. Wayne preceded her in death on September 5, 2015.

She is survived by her children, Kim Volk of Faribault, Wayne Jr. (Yvette) St. Martin of Faribault, Allan (Michelle) St. Martin of Elbow Lake, MN; eight grandchildren, Carrie (Chad) Lenway, Jennifer Canedo, Philip (Amanda) St. Martin, Matthew (Brianna) St. Martin, Jacob St. Martin, Jessica St. Martin, Ollie St. Martin, and Jenna St. Martin; five great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Sr.; parents, Philip and Alice; and son-in-law, Dave Volk.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred in memory of Shirley.
