Steven K. Salzwedel

Steven K. Salzwedel, age 73 of Faribault, MN died on Monday, July 20, 2026 at the Mala Strana Assisted Living and Rehabilitation Center in New Prague, MN following an extended illness.

Steven Kenneth, the son of Donald and JoeAnn (DeMars) Salzwedel was born on February 18, 1953 in Faribault, MN. He attended Faribault Senior High School and graduated with the class of 1973. After high school Steve worked at Mercury Minnesota and also attended Faribault Vo-Tech for Tool & Die work. After completion of his schooling Steve worked for many years at MRG Tool and Die as a Machinist. Steve was an automobile enthusiast. He restored several old cars including his “Hot Rod”, his prized vintage Corvette and Chevy pickup truck. He loved to plow snow and enjoyed his time at a northern Minnesota deer hunting cabin. He also enjoyed snowmobiling and fishing trips to Canada. Living on Roberds Lake since the mid 1970’s was one of his joys in life and creating friendships at Winjum’s Resort.

He is survived by his siblings, Daniel Salzwedel of Victoria, MN, Gary Salzwedel of Faribault, MN and Robin Salzwedel (Fern) of Owatonna, MN; by nieces and nephew, Tessa Salzwedel Steger (David) of Victoria, MN, Adam Salzwedel (Carrie) of Golden Valley, MN and Kayla Salzwedel (Ali) of Faribault, MN and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and JoeAnn Salzwedel, his sister-in-law, Barbara Salzwedel and by his beloved Chihuahua’s Skippy and Scampi.

Private family graveside services will be held at the Calvary Cemetery in Faribault.

Arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault.
