George Van Ryn

George J. “G.O.” Van Ryn, age 45 of Faribault, MN passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at the Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN following an extended illness.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault on Saturday, October 10, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Interment will be held at the Maple Lawn Cemetery on Monday, October 12th at 10:00 a.m.

George Joseph, the son of William “Duffer” and Mary (Novotny) Van Ryn was born on October 9, 1974 in Faribault.  He attended Faribault Senior High School and graduated with the class of 1993.  On April 13, 2002 he was united in marriage to Joan Saxton.  They were later divorced.  George worked as a Sheet Metal Worker for over 25 years for Harris Mechanical.  G.O. loved to golf, hunt and played softball for many years.  He enjoyed watching his children at their activities including football, baseball, volleyball and softball.  He was a member of the Local 10 Sheet Metal Workers Union.

He is survived by his children, Chloe Van Ryn and Will Van Ryn of Faribault and step daughter, Taya Saxton of Medford, MN; by his father, William “Duffer” Van Ryn of Faribault; by his brother, Jeff (Katie) Van Ryn of Faribault and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Van Ryn on May 2, 2018.
