Joseph Weidt

Joseph “Joe” Weidt, age 57 of Faribault, MN passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 20, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home.  Interment will be held at the Maple Lawn Cemetery in Faribault.

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home on Friday from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m.

Joseph Weidt, son of Lawrence and Jeanne (Berry) Weidt was born in Minneapolis on December 22, 1961.  Growing up in Edina, Joe enjoyed adventures with his siblings, especially at the family’s cabin in Maple Lake.  Joe graduated from Edina East High School in 1980 and attended the University of Minnesota and Metro State University.  Later while working as an apartment maintenance worker, he met Nancy Rickmeyer as she was moving in.  He married Nancy on November 7, 1987.  They welcomed son Ben in 1990 before moving to Faribault in 1991.  In 1993, they welcomed their second son, Sam.  Joe had a lengthy career working in I.T., including Ryt-way in Northfield, ABC Companies in Faribault, and Betaseed in Shakopee.  This career allowed Joe to travel throughout Europe and South America.  Most recently, he was working as the Director of Consulting Services for Enterprise Consulting in Edina.

Outside of work, Joe loved golf and would golf most days that weather allowed him to.  He was also an avid auto racing fan, attending the Indianapolis 500 and other Indy Car races with his two sons every year.  He also loved spending time on his boat, riding his bike through the Nature Center in Faribault, and going to movies and the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum with his beloved wife Nancy.  He will be remembered as a family man with an incredible sense of humor and for treating everyone he met with kindness.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Weidt of Faribault, son Ben Weidt of Minneapolis, son Sam Weidt of Brooklyn, NY, brothers David Weidt of St. Paul, Jim (Billie) Weidt, Tom (Kim) Weidt of Hugo, sister Vicki Nelson of Osceola, WI and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Jeanne Weidt.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff of St. Mary’s Hospital for their care and comfort to the family during Joe’s difficult final days.
